To add a quick shot of boost, most car modders would probably go with a tank of nitrous. Not Ron Patrick. He opted for a jet engine which adds about 1350 hp to his VW Beetle. But we will never know how fast it can really go as turning it on for a sustained max thrust would, in some way, probably kill the driver.
The jet engine is separate from the original engine so the vehicle is still street legal.
